This indenture made this twenty seventh day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight-hundred & thirty three between Ebenezer Swinson of the one part …Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars good & lawful money but more especially for & in consideration of the natural love and affection which I the said Ebenezer Swinson hath & do bear towards my son Richard Swinson aforesaid have bargained sold & forever confirmed unto him the said Richard Swinson Jr. a certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on the S. East-side of Back Swamp bounded as follows:

Beginning at a whiteoak on the swamp side Mashberry corner thence So. 90 poles to the run of Mashberry branch thence up the various courses of the same 160 poles to the County line thence along the County line No. 9 ___  194 poles to Taylor's corner thence along his line to the beginning, containing 75 acres be the same more or less to have & to hold the above bounded lands & premises & every part and parcel thereof together with the improvements & advantages thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said Richard Swinson Jr. his heirs and assigns forever.  (_____ my lifetime & my wife Anne Swinson only excepted) & I the said Ebenezer Swinson do hereby warrant & defend the title of the aforesaid & premises & every part & parcel thereof unto him the said Richard Swinson Jr. his heirs & assigns forever free & clear of any incumbrance whatever & from & against the lawful claim or claims of all & every person or persons whatever who may hereafter lay any claim tot he same.  In witness whereof I the said Ebenezer Swinson have hereunto set my hand & seal the date above written.

To all people to whom these presents shall come I Ebenezer Swinson Send Greetings   

            Know ye that I the said Ebenezer Swinson for and in consideration of the natural Love and affection which I have and bear unto my beloved daughter Ann Swinson and for divers other good causes & consideration me hereunto mooving have given and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto her the said Ann Swinson all and singular my goods & Chattle following.  Viz, fifty Acres of land lying and being in the County of Duplin, State of North Carolina, in Back Swamp adjoining the lands of Thomas Horny (Horne) & Lott William’s Lands.  Also the one half of my household and Kitchen furniture.  Articles too tedious to mention, one Sow & pigs Two ewes & Lambs all and singular to her the said Ann Swinson her heirs executors Administrators and assigns forever To have and to hold free and clear of and from the Lawfull claim or claims of all Mortgages deed suits Executory debts dues or demands of all and every other person or persons Whatsoever.  And I the said Ebenezer Swinson all and singular the above mentioned Land &c to the aforesaid Ann Swinson shall and will by these presents forever warrant and defend.  In witness whereof I the said Ebenezer Swinson have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 17th day of January 1842.  Signed & delivered in the presence of

              Onslow County}      Gurganous and wife Chrena of the County of Onslow & state aforesaid, for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred and fifty dollars in hand paid by James Swinson, of the County & state aforesaid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged doth grant, bargain, Sell & convey to the said James Swinson, his heirs & assyins forever, the following real Estate, viz:  lying on the North Side of Ten mile Swamp, bounded as follows, north by the lands of Hosea Marshburn, East by the lands of Blake, South by the Ten mile pocoson & West by the lands of John James & the Gurganous lands, formerly, as for boundries reference to a deed given to Lewis Gurganous from Hosea (Marshburn),  - containing one hundred & twenty seven acres more or less, together with all the privileges & appurtenanaces to the Same belonging.  To have & to hold the same to the said James Swinson, his heirs and assyins forever.  We the grantors hereby Covenanting with the grantee his heirs and assyins that the title So conveyed is clear, free and unencumbered, & that they will warrant and forever defend the Same against all claims whatsoever.  In witness whereof I the said Lewis Gurganus & wife has hereunto Set their hands & Seals, the 13th day of September A.             Onslow County}        This indenture made and executed day and date above written, between James Swinson and wife Rebecca of the first party and Jesse Swinson of the second party all of State and County afore  and we the party’s of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Sixty dollars to us in hand paid by the second party acknowledges have sold unto the second party a tract of land in sd County on the North Side of the Ten mile, joining the lands of Ruth __ Gurganuos.  Beginning at a lightwood stump, on the edge of the field, thence So 88 E. 226 poles to Rutha Blake’s line then with her line So 25 Wt 76 poles, thence North 74 Wt along a line of marked trees to Ruth__ Gurganous’ line, then to the beginning, containing Sixty six acres, be the same more or less and we the party’s of the first part, for ourselves, our heirs and assigns do warrant and defend the afd bargained primacies to the party of the second part, to him and his heirs and assigns forever, to his and there use and behoof, clear of the lawful claim or claims of any person, to there use and behoof forever.  Signed, Sealed and delivered in presence of, day and date above written.                                                                    Surveyed by E. (1 May 1874)

 

This Indenture made the first day of may 1874, between A. D. Cutts & his wife Deborah A. of the County of Onslow & State of NC of the first part and James Swinson of the aforesaid County & State of the Second.

            Witnesseth: that the siad parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred & five dollars 50/100 lawful money of the United States to them duly paid before the delivery hereof have bargained & sold & by these presents do grant & convey to the said party of the second part, his heirs & assigns forever, all that certain piece or parcel of land lying & being in the County of Onslow & State of NC and which is known and described as follows, to wit: beginning at a Black Gum in the edge of Rooty branch then down said branch to the Pocosin then along the edge of the pocosin S23 E 20.00 chains to a small branch then up said branch S40 W 18.00 ch. To a black gum then to the beginning, containing fifty acres & three Roods, be the same more or less.

            Together with all & singular the tenements, hereditaments & appurtenances & all the said estate title & interest of the said parties of the first part therein.  And the said parties of the first part do hereby covenant & agreed with the said party of the second part that at the time of the delivery hereof the said parties of the first part are the lawful owners of the premises above granted & seized thereof in fee simple absolute and that they will warrant & defend the above granted premises in the quiet & peceable possession of the said party of the second part, his heirs & assigns forever.

This indenture made the twenty fourth day of March in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy five between James Swinson and his wife Rebecca of the County of Onslow and State of North Carolina of the first part and Jesse Swinson of the same place of the second part Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Sixty dollars lawful money of the United States to them in hand paid before the delivery hereof hath bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant and convey to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever all that certain piece or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Onslow and S(t)ate of North Carolina and which is known and described as follows, to wit: Beginning at Jesse Swinson corner near the mouth of Jumpin (?) Branch thence with the ten mile pocoson South to John James’ line thence with said line to Jesse Swinson other corner then with Jesse Swinson line to the beginning containing Sixty acres more or less together with all and singular the tenements hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or are any wise appurtaining And the said parties of the first part do hereby covenant and agree with the said parties of the second part that at the time of the delivery hereof the said parties of the first part are the lawful owners of the premises above granted and seized thereof in fee simple absolute and that they will warrant and defend the above granted premises in the quit and peaceable possession of the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever.  In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hand and seal this twenty fourth day of March one thousand eight hundred and seventy five.

Huggins Judge of the Probate Court for said County personally came James Swinson and his wife Rebecca Swinson and severally acknowledged that they signed sealed and delivered the foregoing deed of conveyance from them to Jesse Swinson and bearing date the (left blank) day of March 1875 for the purposes therein ________ and thereupon the said Rebecca the ____ _____ grantor is privily examined by me separate and apart from her said husband touching her free voluntary consent in the execution of Said deed and upon Said examination She the said Rebecca acknowledges and declares that she executed Said deed freely of her own accord without fear of or compulsion of her said husband or of any other person And that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto.

            Wherefore let this deed and this Certificate be registered.

This indenture made this 22nd day of December 1838 between Richard Swinson of the county of Duplin and State of North Carolina of the one part & Ebenezer Swinson of the the same county and State aforesaid of the other part.  Witnesseth that I the said Richard Swinson have for and in consideration of the sum of twenty dollars to me in hand paid by Ebenezer Swinson have bargained & sold unto the said Swinson a tract or parcel of land in Duplin County on the Southeast side of the back swamp bounded as follows Beginning at a whiteoak on the swamp side Mashberry (Mashburn?) corner then So. 90 poles to the run of Mashberry (Mashburn?) This indenture made this 18th of February 1839 between Richard Swinson of Duplin County &  State of North Carolina of the one part & Rebecca Swinson of the Sd County of Duplin of the other part witnesseth that I the Sd Richard Swinson have for in consideration of the sum of ten dollars to me in hand paid by Rebecca Swinson have bargained & sold unto Sd Re Swinson a certain tract of land being in Onslow County beginning at a forked gum in Taylor’s branch standing in the county line running up Sd branch to a swamp pine (thirty?) eight poles & then South one hundered & twelve poles to Mashburn’s branch to a small pine & down Sd branch to the county line & with the Sd line to the beginning twenty five acres more or less together with all and every privialige thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the same or any part or parcel of the same & I the Sd Richard Swinson do bind my self my heirs executors and administrators or assigns to warrant & defend offered bargain land to be free & clear from all manor of persons & claims of any nature whatever but to be & remain free & clear unto her the Sd Rebecca Swinson her heirs executors or administrators & assigns forever in where I have hereunto set my hand and seal the date above mentioned

Know Ye, that we, for and in consideration of the sum of Ten Dollars for every hundred acres hereby granted, paid into our Treasury by Zebedee Swinson have Given and Granted, and by these Presents do Give and Grant unto said Zebedee Swinson a tract of land, containing Twenty acres lying and being in our said county of Onslow beginning at Elisha Lewis’s Corner on the East side of the Back Swamp near the great branch then South with said Lewis’s line one hundred and Eighty poles to a lightwood stump then South twenty two East forty four poles to a stake then south twenty seven west sixty two poles to a lightwood tree Near the head of a small branch then down the said branch and down Swinson’s line to the County lineand with said County line to the Beginning.

This indenture made this July the 13th AD 1839 between Zebedee Swinson of the State of North Carolina Onslow County of the one part and Lemuel Williams of the County of Duplin and State aforesaid of the other part winesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of twenty dollars to the said Zebedee Swinson in hand paid by the said Lemuel Williams on or before the sealing and delivery of these Presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and therefore doth release acquit and discharge the said Lemuel Williams his heirs Executors and administrators by these Presents he the said Zebedee Swinson grant bargained sold confirmed and by these Presents grant bargain sell (    ) and confirm unto the said Lemuel Williams his heirs a Certain Parcel or tract of land containing twenty acres lying and being in the county of Onslow beginning at John Brown’s corner on the east side of the back swamp near the great branch thence South with said Brown’s line one hundred & Eighty poles to a lightwood stump thence south twenty two East forty four poles to a stake thence south 27 Wt 62 poles to a lightwood tree near the head of a small branch thence down the said branch and Richard Swinson’s line to the county line and with the said county line to the beginning to have and to hold the said land containing twenty acres being the same more or less unto the said Lemuel Williams his heirs Executors administrators and assigns to his & their own proper use and benefit forever and I Zebedee Swinson myself my heirs Executors & administrators the said Bargained Premises unto the said Lemuel Williams his heirs Executors administrators and assigns from & against all person and persons whomsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these Presents

Onslow County}  Lord 1853 between Zebedee Swinson of the County and State afore said of the first part and Thomas Simpson of the same county and State afore said of the other part witnesseth that I the said Zebedee Swinson doth for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars current of this state to me in hand paid by the hand of Thomas Simpson before the ensealing and delivering of these presents have bargained sold conveyed and confirmed and sel(l) over leased and released unto the said Thomas Simpson one certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Onslow and State afore said butted and bounded as follows viz, on the north side of the Juniper Swamp beginning at a pine Wiley Bryan’s corner runs North 11 West 30 poles to Bryan’s line thence with it West 46 (?) poles to Mileses line thence with it South 20 West 57 poles to a branch thence with the branch to the Juniper Swamp and with its swamp to the mouth of the Buzzard Branch and with the same to the first station containing one hundred acres of land be the same more or less the same to have and to hold unto the said Thomas Simpson him his heirs Executors and administrators together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments and appertuances to the said land belonging and in any wise appertaining and I the said Zebedee Swinson for my self my heirs Executors and administrators and say (?) of them warrant and defend the before mentioned land and premmases unto the said Thomas Simpson him his heirs executors and administrators or assigns free and clear of all rites or titles or Executiones or debts costs or finds of any person or persons having claims and for and against all person or persons whomsoever warrant and forever defend unto the said Thomas Simpson him his heirs executors and administrators in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal day and date first above written  Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of us

Zebedee & James Swinson to Maxey A. Manning

State of North Carolina, Duplin County.  Know all men by these presents that I, Zebedee Swinson of the County & State aforesaid & James Swinson of the County of Onslow and State aforesaid for & in consideration of the sum of Twenty Dollars to me in hand paid by Maxey A. Manning of the aforesaid County & State the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged doth hereby grant bargain sell & convey to the said Maxey A. Manning her heirs & assigns forever the following Real Estate , to wit: a piece or parcel of land in the County aforesaid located on the N. E. side of Back Swamp, bounded as follows viz: on the north by the lands of Lemuel Williams, on the E. by the lands of John A. Bachelor & W. by the lands of Lucia [?] & Maxey A. Manning, Jr. [?] it containing whatever amount of land we fell heirs to by our father Zebedee Swinson, as for reference [?] to a deed held by him, together with all the privileges & appurtenances to the [premises?] belonging to have & to hold the same to the said Maxey A. Manning her heirs & assigns forever.  The grantor hereby covenanting with the grantee his heirs & assigns that the title so conveyed is clear free & unencumbered & that they will warrant & forever defend the same against all claims whatsoever.  In witness whereof the said Zededee Swinson & James Swinson

have hereunto set their hand & seal the 15th day of October A. D. 1866.
