twenty seventh day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight-hundred & thirty three between Ebenezer
Swinson of the one part …Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the
sum of fifty dollars good & lawful money but more especially for & in
consideration of the natural love and affection which I the said Ebenezer Swinson hath & do bear
towards my son Richard Swinson
aforesaid have bargained sold & forever confirmed unto him the said Richard Swinson Jr. a certain tract or
parcel of land lying & being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on the S.
East-side of Back Swamp bounded as follows:
Beginning at a whiteoak
on the swamp side Mashberry corner
thence So. 90 poles to the run of Mashberry branch thence up the various
courses of the same 160 poles to the County line thence along the County line
No. 9 ___ 194 poles to Taylor's corner thence along his line
to the beginning, containing 75 acres be the same more or less to have & to
hold the above bounded lands & premises & every part and parcel thereof
together with the improvements & advantages thereunto belonging or in any
wise appertaining unto him the said Richard
Swinson Jr. his heirs and assigns forever.

Anne Swinson only excepted) & I the said Ebenezer Swinson do hereby warrant & defend the title of the
aforesaid & premises & every part & parcel thereof unto him the
said Richard Swinson Jr. his heirs
& assigns forever free & clear of any incumbrance whatever & from
& against the lawful claim or claims of all & every person or persons

these presents shall come I Ebenezer Swinson Send Greetings
Know ye that I the said Ebenezer Swinson for and in consideration of the natural Love and
affection which I have and bear unto my beloved daughter Ann Swinson and for divers other good causes &
consideration me hereunto mooving have given and granted and by these presents
do give and grant unto her the said Ann
Swinson all and singular my goods & Chattle following. Viz, fifty Acres of land lying and being in
the County of Duplin, State of North Carolina, in Back Swamp adjoining the
lands of Thomas Horny (Horne) & Lott
William’s Lands. Also the one half
of my household and Kitchen furniture.
Articles too tedious to mention, one Sow & pigs Two ewes & Lambs
all and singular to her the said Ann Swinson her heirs executors Administrators
and assigns forever To have and to hold free and clear of and from the Lawfull
claim or claims of all Mortgages deed suits Executory debts dues or demands of
all and every other person or persons Whatsoever. And I the said Ebenezer
Swinson all and singular the above mentioned Land &c to the aforesaid Ann Swinson shall and will by these
presents forever warrant and defend. In

Chrena of the County of Onslow & state aforesaid, for and in
consideration of the Sum of one hundred and fifty dollars in hand paid by James Swinson, of the County &
state aforesaid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged doth grant, bargain,
Sell & convey to the said James
Swinson, his heirs & assyins forever, the following real Estate,
viz: lying on the North Side of Ten
mile Swamp, bounded as follows, north by the lands of Hosea Marshburn, East by the lands of Blake, South by the Ten mile pocoson & West by the lands of John James & the Gurganous lands, formerly, as for
boundries reference to a deed given to Lewis

Indenture made the first day of may 1874, between A. D. Cutts & his wife Deborah A. of the County of Onslow &
State of NC of the first part and James
Swinson of the aforesaid County & State of the Second.
Witnesseth: that the siad parties of the first part for
and in consideration of the sum of One hundred & five dollars 50/100 lawful
money of the United States to them duly paid before the delivery hereof have
bargained & sold & by these presents do grant & convey to the said
party of the second part, his heirs & assigns forever, all that certain
piece or parcel of land lying & being in the County of Onslow & State
of NC and which is known and described as follows, to wit: beginning at a Black
Gum in the edge of Rooty branch then down said branch to the Pocosin then along
the edge of the pocosin S23 E 20.00 chains to a small branch then up said
branch S40 W 18.00 ch. To a black gum then to the beginning, containing fifty
acres & three Roods, be the same more or less.
Together with all & singular the tenements,
hereditaments & appurtenances & all the said estate title &
interest of the said parties of the first part therein. And the said parties of the first part do
hereby covenant & agreed with the said party of the second part that at the
time of the delivery hereof the said parties of the first part are the lawful
owners of the premises above granted & seized thereof in fee simple
absolute and that they will warrant & defend the above granted premises in
the quiet & peceable possession of the said party of the second part, his
heirs & assigns forever.

United States to them in hand paid before the delivery hereof hath bargained
and sold and by these presents doth grant and convey to the said party of the
second part his heirs and assigns forever all that certain piece or parcel of
land lying and being in the County of Onslow and S(t)ate of North Carolina and
which is known and described as follows, to wit: Beginning at Jesse Swinson corner near the mouth of
Jumpin (?) Branch thence with the ten mile pocoson South to John James’ line thence with said line
to Jesse Swinson other corner then

& James Swinson to Maxey A. Manning

State of North Carolina, Duplin County. Know all men by these presents that I, Zebedee Swinson of the County
& State aforesaid & James
Swinson of the County of Onslow and State aforesaid for & in consideration
of the sum of Twenty Dollars to me in hand paid by Maxey A. Manning of the aforesaid
County & State the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged doth hereby grant
bargain sell & convey to the said Maxey A. Manning her heirs & assigns forever the
following Real Estate , to wit: a piece or parcel of land in the County
aforesaid located on the N. E. side of Back Swamp, bounded as follows viz: on
the north by the lands of Lemuel
Williams, on the E. by the lands of John A. Bachelor & W. by the lands of Lucia [?] & Maxey A. Manning, Jr.
[?] it
containing whatever amount of land we fell heirs to by our father Zebedee Swinson, as for reference
[?] to a deed held by him, together with all the privileges & appurtenances
to the [premises?] belonging to have & to hold the same to the said Maxey A. Manning her heirs &
assigns forever. The grantor hereby
covenanting with the grantee his heirs & assigns that the title so conveyed
is clear free & unencumbered & that they will warrant & forever
defend the same against all claims whatsoever.
In witness whereof the said Zededee Swinson & James Swinson
have hereunto set their hand &
seal the 15th day of October A. D. 1866.
