Margaret Fitzwilliams. He married 1763. Elizabeth Cooke 10 April 1627 in Holy Trinity, Dorchester, England2936,2937,2938.

Notes for Rev. William Walton:
According to Leland Rice Watrous, 1821 Brockway St. Saginaw, MI 48602, LeeWat26@aol.com

Hingham, 1635; Marblehead, 1639; Lynn, 1639; Manchester, 1640; Minister, Marblehead, MA about 30 years; invt. 23 Nov 1668; adm. granted 27 Nov 1668; freeman, 3 Mar 1635, Hingham; apparently never ordained; library was appraised at £20. CD 100,
UA Record #36-231; received degrees from Cambridge in 1621 and
Search for Mary & John, vol 13, p. 32; (Stephen Terry); Stephen's mother, Mary White was the sister of Rev. John White of Dorchester, and dau of John White & Isabel Rawle (dau of John Rawle of Litchfield). The birthplace of Rev. John White (and
probably Mary White, mother of Stephen Terry) is now a residence in Stanton St. John (owned by an Oxford college), a few miles from Oxford. Mary white had a sister, Martha White, who m. Rev. William Cooke, vicar of Crediton, Devon (1596-1615). He
succeeded Rev. Peter Duncan, father of Nathaniel Duncan of the "Mary& John". William had a dau., Elizabeth Cooke (b. abt. 1602) who m. Rev. William Walton, 1627, in Dorchester, who lived in Hingham & Marblehead. They also had 2 other children, who may
have come to New England; (1) Nathaniel Cooke, bp. 18 Jun1609 , Crediton, who may have been the
Nathaniel Cooke who m. Lydia Vore, 29 Jun 1649 (there was a Nathaniel Cookewho became rector of Wootton Fitzpaine, Devon, 11 Nov 1637) & (2) Mary Cooke, (more likely) bp. Jul 1611, Crediton, who some speculate may have come with her sister, Elizabeth
and then married, Aaron Cooke of Dorchester.
Search for Mary & John, vol 17, p. 163; NER 113:319-320 suggest that Rev. William Walton, who was the minister at Marblehead, MA may have come from Wimborne St. Giles Dorset. He received degrees fromEmanuel College, Cambridge, A B. A. in 1621 and
an M.A. in 1625; in 1621 he was listed as a deacon among Dorset Clergy. His wife was dau of Rev. William Cooke, vicar of Crediton, Devon and Martha White, sister of Rev. John White of Dorchester. On 31 Mar 1628 he was made curate of Seaton and Beer,
Devon. His wife, Elizabeth Cooke, was a first cousin of Stephen Terry, who came in 1630 as his mother, Mary White, and Elizabeth's mother were sisters. In the Dorset subsidies of 1628 the only Walton land owners are a William Walton in Wimborne St.
Giles and another in nearby Woodland, so the "planter" may have come from this area. They prob. came in 1635 as he was granted land in Hingham in Sep. of that year.
See also CD 181, English Origins of NE Families, series 2, vol 3, p. 612-614. He had been since 1628 curate in Seaton, Devon, whence he rem. about 1635 to NE. His wife's surname, shown in the printed register of Holy Trinity as "Cake", was
undoubtedly Coke ( a variation then used for Cooke) in the written entry. She was, we know, married in the church fo which her uncle, John White, was rector. Rev. William came originally from Wimborne St. Giles, Dorset, a town about 10 miles from
Charborough. Gives ancestry of Mrs. Walton's mother.
