John James Hart (son of Lewis Hart and Elizabeth James or Louisa M ?)43 was born 27 November 1849 in MO? TX?, and died WFT Est. 1887-194043. He married Sarah Elizabeth Bates on 15 November 1872 in Hood Co., TX, daughter of Benjamin Franklin Bates and Millie Caroline Elkins.

John James Hart ran off and left Sarah E. when Hettie was 2 weeks old. A revival meeting was in progress. He took the best wagon and team and r an off with the songleader. This was near Granbury, Texas. Grandpa Bates took them all in to raise them. They got water out of Pulaski Creek. Le ola Hart went swimming there. Grandpa Bates also raised Nora Bates Castl eberry Austin, a cousin. She was a schoolteacher. Grandpa Hart taught hi s kids to sing. Harts looked reddish. Grandpa Bates and Sarah B. John James never remarried but raised the 2 daughters. They were in Tol er, TX.
