| For the Sydow family, we only know they came from Germany on October 15, 1884. We had always understood they were from Alsace Lorraine. On the origin city on the manifest for two of the family was the name Wettschewell. I cannot find that on a map of Alsace Lorraine. The great grandmothers maiden name was Gertrude Merkens and her husband Louie (Louis?). The children's names were Albert (no one knows where he ended up, but he was born in 1871), Louise, Wilhelm, Anna and Heinrich. Search for more information continues. On the Swift side I have an extensive genealogy of almost 2,000 names. Some are from early immigrant William Swift and then many are from Julius Swift of Pennsylvania who had 22 children by three wives in the mid-1800s. Glad to share the information with anyone. |
