| I am researching for ancestors/descendents of: NICHOLAS SYNAN- born January 31, 1880 in Clounmackon, Listowel, County Kerry, Ireland. His father was DENIS SYNAN who died around 1901 in Ireland. His mother was ELIZABETH MANGAN born bef. 1843 in Ireland. Elizabeth died approx. 1923 in Ireland. Denis & Elizabeth were married on January 27, 1861 at Listowel, Co. Kerry. Denis Synan rented land in Clounmackon in 1875. This land is still owned by family members. Denis had 9 children. Several of his children immigrated to the U.S. and resided in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Several children remained in Ireland where they died.// I believe Denis had possibly 3 other siblings living in the Listowel area in the 1860's. I've found a PATT SYNAN married to a MARY HANRAHAN. Patt had a daughter ELLEN SYNAN born May 31, 1866 in Listowel. There also is a NICHOLAS SYNAN married to a HONORA NOLAN in the Listowel area. They had 2 children: DENIS SYNAN born June 8, 1866 in Shrone, Listowel, Co. Kerry, and ELLEN SYNAN born Aug. 16, 1868 in Dirha, Listowel, Co. Kerry. The only other possible sibling is BRIGID(BRIDGET)SYNAN married to a JAMES CASEY. They had a child named WILLIAM CASEY born July 17, 1865 in Listowel.// Possible parents of DENIS/PATT/NICHOLAS/&BRIDGET are NICHOLAS SYNAN (Sinon) & ELLEN MULVIHILL. They had a daughter BRIGID on July 12, 1837 in Clounmackon, Listowel, Co. Kerry. I believe BRIGID SYNAN to be a sister of Denis.// Other names found on birth registers and baptismal documents include: Catherine-Ellen-& a James McNamara and a John Casey.//// I'm also looking for any relatives on the MANGAN side of the family. I believe Elizabeths father was PAT MANGAN who rented the Clounmackon land until 1875. She possibly had a brother PAT MANGAN who was present at her wedding, a sister MARY MANGAN, and another brother JOHN MANGAN.// I believe JOHN MANGAN to have been Bapised on Feb. 8, 1853 in Listowel. He studied at Maynooth 1871-77. Ordained a Priest on July 1, 1877 and worked in the Liverpool Archdiocese. Later he became a professor at St. Michael's College, Listowel. He was appointed Bishop of Kerry on July 8, 1904. Cnsecrated in Killarney Cathedral on Sept. 18, 1904. He died on July 1st, 1917 and is buried in Killarney Cathedral.// I would appreciate any information on SYNAN (SINON)/MANGAN/MULVIHILL/MCNARMARA. I am also willing to share what information I have. Thank you. |
