| My grandparents (Szyszko) came to Elizabeth, NJ in the early 1900. My father was born there in 1912. They went back to Sokolka, Poland soon after. I am researching the Szyszko family back from that point. There are a number of Szyszkos in the United States and the little research I have been able to do, indicates that they arrived in the U.S. in the late 1800 and early 1900s, primarily escaping being inducted into the Russian Army, among many other reasons, I am sure. I am just begining, but with my family growing quite quickly and me getting older, just as quickly, I thought it would be a great time to find out the history of the Szyszkos. |
