I have been researching the John Philip Leidy family from Alton, Madison County, Illinois for thirty years. Known as Philip, he arrived some time before 1860, from Bavaria, Germany. He married Elizabeth Braun in 1861 at St. John's Church, Green County, Il. They raised thirteen children on a farm near Greenfield, Il., Macoupin County, Il. I am the descendant of Philip Frances Leady (name was changed in late 1860's - early 1870's), of Springfield, Illinois.

Also, I am researching the families of Denis Ryan and Johanna Burke, from Limmerick/Tipperary, Ireland. Philip Frances Leady had a son Philip B. Leady, who married Gertrude Welle. The parents of Gertrude Welle were Catherine Ryan and William G. Welle. Catherine's parents, Denis Ryan and Johanna Burke came from Anacarty and Tipperary, Munster, Ireland. Denis and Johanna settled in the Glenarm/Virden, Macoupin County, Illinois Area. He built a log cabin and worked on the railroad in Virden.

Philip B. Leady had a son William Philip Leady, who married Carolyn Anna Theilen. Her parents were William S. Theilen and Elsie Wallner, consequently, I am researching this family also.
The parents of William Theilen were Schweer Theilen and Anke Cordes. Parents of Elsie Wallner were Caroline Krueger and Joachin Wallner. All of the Theilen/Wallner families were of the Lutheran faith and immigrated from Germany. I do have their originating German towns.
