1. BENNETT¹ ABBOTT, SR. was born 1760 in North Carolina, and died February 20, 1830 in Baxley, Appling Co, GA. He married FRANCES GROOMS Abt. 1790.

Notes for BENNETT ABBOTT, SR.:
First known Ref: to Bennett Abbott in GA was Tax Payer in Burke Co in 1792. 1794 Tax Payer in Warren Co. Juror in Jefferson Co in July 1797 Jefferson Superior Court. In 1806 he was granted 200 acres of land in Liberty Co. and was an Inferior Court juror. In 1809 moved to Tattnall Co. and the next year, his name was a juror in Tattnall. In 1814 he was granted 340 acres of land in Tattnall, Co. in 1819 he moved across the Altamaha River into the new county of Appling and settled in the 3rd land district. He served 4 years from 1822-1826 as Major of the 97th BN of GA Militia. He died in 1829 intestate, and his widow Fannie applied Feb. 20, 1830, for administration on his estate and w as appointed administratrix.

His son, Wm. W. Abbott, was a Clerk of Appling Inferior Court in 1822 and appears in Thomas County in the 1830 census. The sons, Bennett Jr. Ezekiel and James also moved to Thomas county and married there. The Daughter, Mrs. Hancock, and family was in Baker( now Mitchell ) county in 1850. Only John Seaborn, remained in Appling County.

Notes for FRANCES GROOMS:
Fannie and Mary Abbott was Baptized in 1808 in Beard Creek Church, Tattnall, Co, GA. She applied for administration of Bennett's estate, she does not appear in t;he 1840 census.

	ii.		WILLIAM W. ABBOTT, b. Aft. 1790; d. Unknown.

Notes for WILLIAM W. ABBOTT:
He was Clerk of Appling Co Inferior Court in 1822. Appears in Thomas Co in 1830 Census. It is suspected that William is Bennett's brother rather than his son.
