Notes for JOHN SEABORN ABBOTT:
He was born in Tattnall County, in 1813. He moved to Appling County as a young boy. He was appointed Captain On May 9th 1864 of 1st. Company Georgia Malitia of Appling County. Lived in the 583rd Militia District of Appling Co. (John Abbott, because it is erronishly (sic) believed that his girl, Betty or Betsy, who is now in his possession, is the same Negro named Betty, with Sarah and her children, that he deeded to daughter-in-law Eliza G. Abbott, several years ago, declares that he never gave his Betty, bought from Mr. Gibbon, to his daughter-in-law and it was another girl name Betty or Betsy. wit: Malachi Denmark, JIC. Rec: Sept,.20,) from the Georgia Archives.
