Descendants of Adam Moses 09/02/2008

      10. Maria Engel3 Moses (Johann Adam2, Johann Peter1) was born February 16, 1759 in Chester County, Pennsylvania, and died April 08, 1848 in West Pikeland Township, Chester County, PA. She married Philip King Bef. 1785, son of Michael König and Eva Kachler. He was born April 01, 1756 in Pikeland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, and died September 01, 1824 in Pikeland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Notes for Maria Engel Moses:
1) There is conflicting information regarding Mary's name:

Mary's middle name is given as 'Engle' in the letter from Peter Allen Moses, but is shown as 'Angle' in her father's will. However, church registers from St. Peter's Lutheran tend to show her name most often as "Maria Engel Koenig" or "Maria Engel König". Information about her burial shows her name as Mary Ann (see below).

2) From "Selected Historical Papers and Records Concerning St. Peter's Reformed Church, West Pikeland, Chester County, Penna." (Compiled & Edited by Isaiah M. Rapp, Ph.D., 1940):

p. 123 -- 1830 -- "A Record of Funerals attended by the Rev. J. B. Knipe, Pastor of the Reformed Congregation of Pikeland in Chester County, Pennsylvania, during his Ministry."

p. 140 -- "279--Mary Ann, wife of the late Philip King, died April 8 and buried the 11th, 1848, aged 89 years, 1 mo. and 21 days."
