Marriage Notes for Samuel Moses and Mary Watkins:
1) Marriage Index: KY, NC, TN, VA, WV, 1728-1850

Moses, Samuel H.      Spouse : Watkins, Mary A.
      Marriage date : Dec 31, 1842

Charlotte County, VA

Marriage Notes for Samuel Moses and Harriet Hankins:
1) Marriage Index: KY, NC, TN, VA, WV, 1728-1850

Moses, Damuel H.      Spouse : Hankins, Harriet
      Marriage date : Jul 26, 1850

(Charlotte County, VA)

[Note 1: I have no proof that Damuel H. Moses is the same person as Samuel H. Moses, and I also have no proof that the "Samuel" H. Moses who married Harriet Hankins is the same Samuel H. Moses who married Mary A. Watkins. If Mary A. Watkins died prior to 1850, then this does seem likely to be supported by the facts.]

[Note 2: This is probably the same Albert W. Moses found living in the household of Samuel Ferris Moses and Nancy Jennings Moses in the 1850 census.]

      54. Nancy Green5 Moses (Samuel Ferris4, Peter3, Johann Adam2, Johann Peter1) was born January 08, 1817 in Buckingham County, Virginia, and died March 15, 1883 in Scottsburg, Halifax County, Virginia. Notes for Nancy Green Moses:
1) From the notes of Jackie Gray; name of source not provided (some misspelled words were corrected in the copy below):

"In Memoriam

On Thursday evening, March 15th, 1883, Mrs. N. G. Dickerson, the dear wife of Mr. Nathan D. Dickerson, departed this life and entered into the saint's everlasting rest. Mrs. Dickerson was a daughter of the late Mr. Samuel H. Moses. At her death she was in her sixty-seventh year, her exact age being sixty-six years and sixty-six days. Married in her nineteenth year, she lived with her husband , a loving and devoted wife for forty-seven years and eighty days. She was the mother of eleven sons and seven daughters, of whom eight sons and five daughters survive, to bear weeping testimony with their bereaved and sorrowing father, to the irreparable loss which they have sustained. All of these, excepting two married daughters whom distance and the state of their health prevented, were able to be present at her burial.

For forty-one years, Mrs. Dickerson had been a devoted member of the Methodist Church. During the closing years of her life she was subject of frequent attacks of illness, in which death seemed to be near. But her last three months were peculiarly months of continued and severe sufferings; all which she bore with christian patience. Toward the last her mind wandered a good deal, but in her rational moments her faith and hope in Christ were firm and abiding, and death had no terrors for her. Her end was peace and at length, apparently without pain, she passed away from the cares and toils, the trials and temptations of this present life, to 'the rest that remaineth to the people of God'. We shall no more see her dear, sweet, placid face here, but the angels behold it, radiant with joy, among the blood washed, white robed throng before the throne of God and the Lamb.

H. A. B."

[Note 1: Nancy was not the daughter of Samuel H. Moses -- he was her brother. Her father was Samuel F. Moses (Samuel Ferris Moses).]

Marriage Notes for Nancy Moses and Nathan Dickerson:

Dickerson, Nathan      Spouse : Moses, Nancy G.
      Marriage date : Dec 7, 1835

Note: While I have no actual proof that this Nancy Moses is the daughter of Samuel Ferris Moses, the facts appear to fit.

Addendum: Proof has been found in the form of a list of children found in Samuel's will; daughter Nancy is listed there as "Nancy H. Dickerson"; this middle initial conflicts, but the last name is the same.
