Job Lane (son of James Lane) was born 1620 in Lancshire Cty., England, and died August 23, 1697 in Massachsetts. He married Hannah Rayner on September 1660, daughter of John Rayner and Anna Boyer.

Was made a freeman in 1656 and built the first meeting house in Malden in 1658. Contracted for the building of a bridge over Concord River, to be completed, "with abutments at each end suitable for the passing over with cards," before the close of year 1659.

Moved to Billerica and settled on the Gov. Winthrop farm, which he bought of Fitz John, son of the governor. The deed, dated 2 Aug. 1664, conveys 12 hundred and 60 acres, beight the same granted to the eminent governor by the Colonial Courts. Paid L230 for the farm, current money, by building a house for Fitz John Winthrop at New London, CT. He remained on the farm until the marriage of his John
after which he returned to his Malden estate. The Winthrop farm was found, by survey previous to the division among the heirs of Job, to contain fifteen hundred acres. It was but a small part of his estate.
The inventory of his estate was - Estate in Billerica, homstead in Malden, tenements in Malden and a personal estate. In addition, that were was a large estate in England from which he received an annual
income. The English estate came by his second wife. It was inherited by the Rayner Family from a brother, Boyse, who was slain in the war of the revolution in the Parliament party under Lord Fairfax in a
battle near Leeds, 1643. See English Right. Job's house in Billerica was one of the 4 blocks houses ordered to be built by the General Court between Concord and Chelmsford in 1675 during Philips War.

Job Lane represented the town in the General Court in 1678-79 and after his return to Malden represent that town in 1685 and 1693.
