| Like most Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian), you would think genealogy would be easy because most of us are related; our trees cross more than once and have many common surnames. You would also think there would be a storehouse of information on the net. Not so for Edwin and myself anyway, or maybe I’m just impatient. At any rate, we would appreciate any kokua (help) you can give and of course, we in return will do likewise. Looking for 'ohana, particularly of the 1st marriage of Edmund SAFFERY (1806-1874)of Upwell, Cambridgeshire, England to Kupuna NAEHU (1844) of Olowalu, Maui, HAWAII. Their daughter Fanny SAFFERY married "John Baker" KAIAOKAMALIE I (I have found 19 variations of the surname) Much is done with marriage to 2nd wife Kawaawaaiki (Waiki) NAEHU (neice of Kupuna), as their granddaughter Eva VIEIRA married into the PARKER Ranch family. Other surnames are AKINA, BELL, FREITAS, KAAIKALA, KALAWAIA, KAANAANA, KAPAONA, KEKOI, LINCOLN, LINDSEY, MAKAHO, PAHIAWA, PAONA, PURDY, SAFFERY, STEVENS, TAMPOS, WAHINEPIO. A hui hou e malama pono. |
