| I am researching the Mckay/Mckoy/McCoy family from Welches Creek township, Columbus County, North Carolina. Jacob Mckay name first appeared on the 1870 census records. He was born in 1812. He married a woman named Monemia maiden name unknown to meat this time. They were married during the year of 1839. Monemia was born in the year of 1822. According to our records they had between 12 and 14 children. Among the children born were the famous Millie-Christine Mckoy. The first African American Siamese twins. Jacob and Monemia had a son named Josiah Mckay. He was born in the year of 1840. He married a second time to a lady by the name of Izzadora Jones. She was born in Welches Creek, Columbus County, North Carolina. They had five children, one named Pearlie Gertrude Mckoy. She was born during 1902 in Welches Creek , Columbus County, North Carolina. Pearlie G. Mckoy married a man named Paul Hudson Mckoy. They were married in 1921 in North Carolina. They had four children together. Their names are Jessie Gertrude Mckoy, Willie Roosevelt Mckoy, Rebecca Jane Mckoy, and Alice Louise Mckoy. Willie Roosevelt Mckoy was my father. He was born on January 4, 1925 He died during the year of 1984. I am his only daughter as far as I know. My name is Ms. Betty L. Mckoy-Tate. I have three handsome boys; Their names are Willie, Bernard, and Edward. I thank God for the rich and true history of our family. We can look back and say through it ALL we made it.
