I am researching the ancestors of Walter Edward Tauchert, born Jan. 6, 1879. He was an orphan at the age of 3 or 4 and was housed at the House of Refuge in St. Louis Mo. He remembered his mother’s name, as being Mary and his father’s name may have been John, and a brother that he thought was Fred. As an adult he married Belle Calbreath, and raised his family in Millstadt, Illinois.
I am also researching the ancestors of Christian Loewe. He emigrated from Germany with his wife and son between 1840 and 1856 and settled near what is now New Haven, Missouri. During the Civil War Christian served as a private in Company G of the 54th Regiment of the Enrolled Missouri Militia.
