The Williams,Simmons,Byfords of Tennessee

I am new at this and it is very confusing. There are alot of names that I have came across that may be related to my search. If anyone has any info please contact me. My father William Wesley Williams was in World War 2. My GGrandfather was in the Civil war and his wife Nettie Jane Cox was a Cheeroke Indian. My GGAunts name Was Lilly Redfern but I cant find her anywhere either. My mothers name was Mary Elizabeth Simmons, my Grandmothers name was Sally Elizabeth Byford and my Grandfathers name was Thomas Jefferson Simmons. I dont know much about any of my family. The information is scattered at best. I was told there is Creek indian on my mothers side of the family. As yet I have not found any information on that.
