My name is Debra Shoff Martin and I am doing research on my family tree for my two wonderful boys, Brandon and Richard (Richie). I have taken about a 6 year break and am getting ready to start researching more and adding updated files back that I have deleted. I haven't worked on these files since 1998 and am trying to re-familiarize myself with them and get some new pictures updated and have to update my familytree maker software. So if you email me, I will answer back, just please be patient while I am upgrading.

I am hoping to gather enough information for them so when they are old enough and want to know where they came from, they will be able to find out. I started doing this for Brandon and was only going to do his "immediate family", but then I got so much information, I just kept adding to it. I hope to come to at least a stopping point by the time they are 21 and have it printed out in book form for them to pass down to their children.

I am currently working with the following surnames:
Shoff Family from New York (Olean); Jones/McBrien Family from Jackson Co, WV; Joplings from Post Carbon & New Kensington, PA; Alexander Family from Kishacoquillas Valley, PA and Madera, PA (there is an Alexander Family cemetary in Madera, PA) and finally the Walker Family from Coudersport, PA.

I also have pics of some cemetery plots in the Alexander and Walker families if anyone is interested in them and some pics of some of the old homesteads and some old family pictures of the Jones/McBrien's and Joplings/Alexanders. I am in the process of scanning pictures and will be loading them to the websight soon.

I would like to take the time to thank the following people who have helped out tremendously on this project. If I have forgotten anyone please accept my apologies, I have been in contact with so many people over the past 2 years I've been doing this.
Laura W. Jopling-Portville, NY (who unfortunately passed away in Feb 2006); Marge Gordon - Georgia (passed away in May 2006); Brian Mitchell - California; Bea Daggett; Vicky Lanham - WV; John William Shepherd - DC; Cindy - Iowa, Denise Day; Pam Davis - PA; Jane Haver (James Jopling line)

A lot of the information I have on the Alexanders, came from the following published material: "The Descendants of John Alexander and Margaret Glasson, Who Emigrated From County Armagh, Ireland, to Chester County, Pennsylvania, A.D. 1736" written by Rev. John E. Alexander. The other book is called "Alexander's Fording: The Madera Chronology 1736-1936" written by David W. Hill, Madera, PA. I have the information where you can order these books. If you are interested, email me and I will forward the information.

If anyone has any information on these families, I would greatly appreciate it. Please view the reports listed below and see if any of the information is connected to your research. I have privatized these reports to protect those that are still living. I also have reports on more of my surnames, so if you don't see a report on a surname below, email me and I will send you a privatized one. Depending on what information you need on living relatives, I will contact them to make sure it is alright to release the information to you.

I would also love to have any stories or side notes for any individuals listed on this sight. Would be willing to swap information with you. I think that is what makes geneology and research a little less painful when you can try to picture some of these people.

If anyone would like me to run a kinship report to anyone on this websight, please email me and give me a couple of days to get it together.

  • My Uncle, John Shoff (132 KB)
This was the last picture taken of my Uncle John before he passed away at a very young age. He is buried in New York along with his mother and now his father. He died of an appendicitis at the age of 10.
  • My Aunt Bev and her mom, Helen Walker Shoff (158 KB)
This is a picture of my Aunt Beverly Shoff and her mother, Helen Anora Walker Shoff. I don't know the date this was taken.
  • Lloyd and Ella Parrish Jones Armstrong (159 KB)
This is a picture taken in the Spring of 1998 of myself, my mother, my son, my grandparents Ella and Lloyd Armstrong. We lost my grandfather on February 21, 2001. He was a wonderful, hardworking man and we will miss him dearly.
  • Brandon's Baseball - Spring 2000 (90 KB)
This is a picture of Brandon during Spring ball 2000. Mommy was very proud of him, they finished the season 6th in the County with a record of 14-2-2 for the year (which included championship playoffs). They were undefeated (with 2 ties) during regular season. (Yes, he finished the season with no black-eye!!!)
  • Esther Parrish Crawford & Ella Parrish Armstrong (78 KB)
This is a picture of my grandmother Ella and her mother Esther Parrish Crawford
  • "Richie's Modeling Days" - 6 months (47 KB)
This picture was taken by my boss's husband. He is a professional photographer. He took a bunch of pictures of Richie and at least 6 were kept by the Stock Market in New York, so keep your eyes open in magazines and billboards and look for Mom's other pride and joy.
  • Brandon and Richie - November 2000 (48 KB)
This was taken in November 2000. These are my two wonderful boys. Mommy is very proud of both of them and hope they continue to grow into prosperous and generous young men.
  • Jefferson Bailey Walker, his Dad and Brothers (291 KB)
Jefferson Bailey is in the middle, the man to his left is James Walker, his father and I'm not sure which brothers are which. Any help would be appreciated.
  • James Alexander's Gravesite - 1726-1791 (66 KB)
This is a picture of the gravesite of my son's 7th Great-grandfather. It was taken in July 1999 in West Kishocoquillas Valley. The Daughters of the American Revolution maintain the gravesite of his grave and his family members to this day. His house is still standing to this day, even in disrepair. I hope to get back there in the Spring of 2001 and meet some of the living relatives to see if they have stories or other paperwork on him and his family.
  • Jefferson B. Walker and his Brother (274 KB)
This is Jefferson Bailey Walker with one of his brothers. I think it is Nate (Nathaniel) Walker but I will have to check.
  • Max and Helen Walker Shoff's Wedding Picture (87 KB)
This is my grandparents wedding picture. Grandpa Max passed away September 6, 2000. About 90% of the family flew in for the funeral. Grandpa had left a "memory box" that the whole family shared the day we laid him to rest. I will be scanning these pictures and hope to have them on the website soon for others to share.
