Thomas Cunningham Taylor 1841 - 1920 came to New Zealand from Fourtowns County Down Ireland,on 6th March 1864 in the sailing ship "Statesman".His first 2 years spent in Auckland carpentering then to the West Coast to search for gold. Following this he set out for Canterbury,and worked on a farm as a labourer ,then came to Ashton (in the Ashburton County) about 1876 where he started farming for himself. Thomas married Christina Gilmore from Paisley Scotland in 1871 at Southbridge having 12 children in all , 2 dying at a young age Thomas's parents are:- John Taylor born approx 1811, Killapavin, Donaghmore, Newry. died 20 Nov 1866 aged 55 (same as above) Mary Cunningham died 04 Feb 1860. She was a neighbours daughter. Both buried in the Fourtowns Church graveyard. This Family Tree was started by my aunty Doreen Taylor and updated by myself with a lot of help from a Family Tree of Gilmore Blee ,who is a desendant of Christina Gilmore's Father |
