Descendants of Benjamin Skinner

Generation No. 4

6. ARISS4 SKINNER (ASA3, EDWARD2, BENJAMIN1) was born May 06, 1827 in South Carolina, and died February 17, 1911. He married (1) SARAH M. WIGGINS Abt. 1853, daughter of JOSEPH WIGGINS and MATILDA. He married (2) EMMA ARNOLD Aft. 1892.

Notes for E
MMA ARNOLD:
After Ariss' first wife's death, he married Emma who was 18 years old at the time of their marriage. Emma worked at the Cedar Mill. Emma gave birth to three daughters and one son.
After Ariss' death, Emma placed her children in an orphanage in Montgomery, AL, where she also worked. Attempts to locate information on these children have been unsuccessful.

Another "angle" from a family member:
I suppose Emma Arnold Kornegay could be traced but family researchers
have searched long and hard to find the children. There is is story I
heard about Emma leaving with the children and it goes something like
this. Marvin Aris, one of the younger children of Aris, heard Emma was
taking the children and leaving on the train. Marvin was sick in bed at
the time but got out of bed and headed to the depot to stop her but the
train had left with her and the children. It must have been a while
before any of the family learned what happened to Emma and the children.
I don't know if the children were ever adopted and just grew up in the
Masonic Home where Emma worked. It is just a mystery.
