| I am currently doing research on the descendants of John Symmes, who lived in Gallia County, Ohio, from about 1820 until his death in 1845 or 1846. This last name has also been found in records as: Sims (most common), Simms, Simes, Simmes, Syms, Symms, Symes, and Cimms. There are many related names with the family. Danner, Mansell, Hamptonstall, Hendrick (Hendricks/Hendrix), Hufford, McLaughlin, Hopper, King, Shelton, Price, Bridgman, DeWitt, Soutter, Kramer, Davies, Massie, and Cherrington just to name a few of the most common. If you are related or think you might have a connection, please contact me. There is going to be a family reunion for the descendants of John Symmes in Lexington, Missouri, the last weekend of July. |
