The Tegtmeier/Bargholz Families

This is what happens when fascination grows to obsession! Each time I think I find what I'm looking for (and I'm sure I won't find any more), I discover I can't stop. I am descended from German Immigrants who settled in the Dundee/Elgin/Barrington Center/Hanover Township area of Illinois in the mid-1800's. I also have ancestors from the Manchester, Michigan area.
The names I am researching are BARGHOLZ/BARGHOLTZ, BICKNASE(ESE), BIERMAN(N), HAPKE, HARKS, HARTKE, HOPPENSTEDT, KLEINSCHMIDT, KNOLL, LANDWEHR, LINDE, MEUSER, NEILL, RABE, SCHMIDT, SODT, TEGTMEIER, TIMM, WEDEKIND and WESSEL(MANN).

Rumors abound that the SODTS and BIERMANS came over on the same boat (still haven't found them in Germans to America) and my maternal great-grandparents knew each other from childhood. I am looking forward to hearing from others who are descended from the very same families, branches, or those who simply enjoy genealogy and have come across information I may need. I could very well have information you're looking for and I would be happy to share.
