For the occasion of a 50th Wedding Anniversary Party for Cec and Gordon Tempany, their son Bill Tempany has been working on the creation of a Tempany-Baptie family tree. The tree has been documented and a binder of family pictures has been created for the special couple. This work has been a lot of fun for Bill as he has visited a lot of friends and relatives to update the information. Everyone has been very helpful. The project seems to grow daily and it is hoped that the information will be maintained and improved by all. For example, there are a number of pictures from days gone by that have not yet be identified. As soon as possible we would like to get them posted here for others to have a look at and hopefully fill in the gaps. Any extra stories or pieces of history that should be included, would be gratefully appreciated. Keep your eye on this space! Both the Tempany's and the Baptie's settled directly in the Cochrane Alberta area of Western Canada after making the original voyage from Great Britain. In the case of two families of forebears there were some stops on the way West. The Connell family lived in Fenlon Falls Ontario and the Coatesworths stayed in Winnipeg before some of their members moved West. If you would like more information about these families or if you are lucky enough to have pertinent information, please feel free to email Bill Tempany at [email protected] You can congratulate the young couple Cec and Gordon by sending them an email at [email protected]. They now reside in Drayton Valley Alberta with long winter visits to Arizona. They would love to hear from you. LATEST NEWS TEMPANY FAMILY REUNION was held in September 2003. This was the first reunion that the present family can remember. Ian and Eileen Copithorne volunteered their home range in Bluffton Alberta Canada. These two people have created a unique old time western town that is definitely worth a look. The family enjoyed experiencing "old times" in the one cell jail - complete with prisoner and a wanted poster for the Tempany Boys. There's a little church next door for those seeking redemption. A bar on the same street for those who would rather drown their sorrows. A livery stable is now home to old wagons and cars of bygone times. The hotel is where the group gathered to enjoy prime rib and LOTS of salads and vegetables and endless fancy desserts. After a beautiful day the weather became a little chilly with a bit of rain so the fireplace and the antique wood cooking stove in the kitchen was appreciated. This weekend provided a time for everyone to 'get to know' each other again in some instances and 'get updated' on the latest in each family. The kids had a lot of playing and riding in Ians neat car - all the time finding out about each other. Ian had a ball giving everyone a ride in his antique car. The kids thought that was great - as did all the dogs. Even the big kids had a turn at driving. There are plans to continue this as a new tradition. I hope it does.
