Monongalia County, WV - Denny Tennant Cemetery

  This is a reading of the Denny Tennant Cemetery, located near Miracle Run
in Monongalia County, WV.  The cemetery is located in the woods on property
now owned by Eastern Associated Coal Company.  Although the surrounding
area is heavily wooded and the path leading to it was overgrown, the cemetery
itself was relatively clear.  All stones were upright except one and it appeared
as if all the graves were marked.  It was fenced in by barbed wire at one time,
but the fence on two sides and the gate are now down.  If you are planning a
visit to the cemetery be forewarned - the path leading to it (actually probably
an old wagon road) is not easy to find, and while standing less than 30 feet
from the cemetery I still could not see it.  If not for my Global Positioning
Sattelite receiver, I would have been unable to find the cemetery.

NOTES
(1) Luella, the wife of Curtis L Mathew, was the daughter of Denny Tennant
      and Elizabeth Ann Brewer.
(2) Lark was the son of Sylvanus Mayfield and Jane Tennant.  Jane Tennant
      was the daughter of Denny Tennant and Elizabeth Ann Brewer.
(3) The only child of Denny and Elizabeth Tennant that I have a record of that
      died in infancy, was a son, who was born and died on December 10, 1878.
(4) Another source gives Oliver's birthdate as August 22, 1860.
(5) Elizabeth Ann was the daughter of William Brewer and Leatha Anne McCoy.
(6) Denny was the son of Joseph Tennant and Catherine Haught.  The inscription
      on his stone was covered with moss.
(7) Mabel Ann was the daughter of Enos Tennant and Prudence E Devine.
(8) Mary Dell was the daughter of Enos Tennant and Prudence E Devine.  This
      is a double stone with Mabel Ann Tennant.
(9) Pruda E's maiden name was Devine.  She was the wife of Enos Tennant, who
      was the son of Denny Tennant and Elizabeth Ann Brewer.  This was the only
      stone in the cemetery that was overturned, but it was lying face up.
(10) Rebecca was the daughter of Denny Tennant and Elizabeth Ann Brewer.
