I would like to thank Carl for sending me his information from the book "Descendants Of MY Great Grandparents" by Mrs. A. R. Laura Willhide Johnston.

Peter supposedly was of German stock and was born in Switzerland. He may have come to this country as a "Redemptioneer"as early as 1750 with two or three brothers. One source says that he was French Hugenot. The book also states that they may have lived in Berks County before coming to Perry county. It also states that many oral histories passed down through various descendants indicate Peter was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. One brother is believed to have gone to Fairfax, Virgina, one to Lehigh / Lancaster, Pa. and the other to Philadelphia.

My line appears on page 59 of the book. A correction to this information. George Shively
married Rachel Harris. Hannah was their daughter.
