I am Afro/American decent and have been researching my family tree off and on for several years. It is very hard when you do not have dates and places. It is especially tough when there are several family members with the same name, no middle name or initial. Each year I have been attending at least two family reunions and have acquired more and more information. I am mostly concerned about the research on my maternal side. I can go back to both of my great-great-grandmothers. It seems most of the information regarding Afro-Americans from 1850 to 1940 are very hard to find. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
