The following information was collected and compiled by Cecil Edwin Tharp, 204 N. Russell St., Eaton, Indiana 47338

Jacob Tharp sailed to the New Jersey Colony before 1767. The
first record of Jacob in the colony is found in the marriage
records of the Presbeterian Church Records of Jon Elmer (1763-1793), marriage dated February 4, 1767, New Providence, N.J. .... It is uncertain when Jacob arrived in the colony....or if he came with his parents. Many Tharps had been in New Jersey for a long time.

Various records do not make a direct tie to Jacob. Any leads that you feel may help me in my research would be most appreciated.
