the household of her father James A. Martin.

Notes for Anah Decatur Taylor: [taylor2.FTW] 1910 census, Lawrence Co.,OH, Windsor Twp Taylor, Anah D. age 30 born in VA Livona R. age 26 born OH Inez E. afe 5 born OH Elsie I age 3 born OH William L. age 6 mos. born OH During a phone conversation with Virginia whitehead, wife of Tom(grandson of Anah), she said her mother-in-law, Inez Taylor, told her Anah was so small when they came to Ohio that he had to ride in the wagon on a pillow. I checked dates and Anah would havebeen about 5 or 6 years old. His brother Charles would have been about 2 or 3 and his sister Anna was a baby.They probably ALL had to ride on pillows! This is based on the fact that the next sibling to be born, Ethel, was born in 1887 in Ohio, according to census, and Anah, Charles and Anna were born in VA. I can't imagine moving across the mountains of Virginia to Ohio with 3 children under 6 and giving birth to a new baby within the year that I arrived. Sarah may have even been pregnant on the trip. |

Notes for Amanda Virginia Taylor:
There were a total of ten children by Mandy, although only two are known and
listed here.
Notes for John Harvey Bell:
John Bell had ten children, all by his first wife.Per Rossie Pendleton's
scrapbook. Had 6 sons: Delbert W. of Covington; V.V. & F.T. of Frankford,
W.Va.; Roy of Craig County.Had 4 daughters: Mrs. Ella King of St. Louis, Mo.;
Mrs. Annie Huffman of Roanoke; Mrs. Margie Stebar & Mrs. Annie Stebar of Craig County.
The Bell Cemetery, as opposed to the Bell/Snodgrass Cemetery, is located across the road from Geneva Bell's place (Mrs. Corbett Bell's place) on John's Creek.
From some source Geneva Bell had a dual DOD of 19 or 24 Mar., 1934 for John.She said that the 24th was correct as is supported by other sources.
Anna Fay (Stebar) Helems remembered John Bell as "going on drunks" during which time he would reside at a house other than his own home.(I believe she said he owned this second house.)Afterward, on his way home, he would stop by another of Anna Fay's relative's homes where the lady of the house would prepare a concoction of buttermilk and eggs to alleviate his hangover symptoms.

Notes for Corbett Sullivan Bell: Served in US Army during WWI.Named after prize fighters Corbett and Sullivan per interview with his widow Geneva at the family home 14 August, 1998.(That home was first the log house of Corbett's grandfather Jeremiah Bell according to Geneva who had photographs to prove it.) MOST CONFIDENTIAL: According to Geneva Keffer Bell, Corbett Sullivan Bell "went with" (dated) Rossie Givens (later Pendleton) for years before he and Geneva got together.When asked by Jane Echols Johnston if she was jealous (of Rossie) Geneva quickly snapped an emphatic "No!".Considering that this was before she (Geneva) and Corbett dated she would have had no reason for jealousy, but her quickness to respond and the emphasis she assigned that response seemed a bit strange.Jane later explained her suspicions which would explain Geneva's response. Jane knew that by SOMEONE, Rossie had become secretly pregnant.She was sent to Oregon (or Washington) to live with her grandparents or aunt and uncle to complete her pregnancy and deliver the child.These west coast relations adopted the child who later had a child as well.Obviously, since Corbett and Rossie dated for years, Jane wondered if Corbett was the child's father.I (Robert O. Eason) consider that, but also wonder if her pregnancy by another man might have been the grounds for their separation. |
