Josiah Durden was born about 1775 in Virginia. He had moved to Warren County, Georgia by 1793, along with Jacob, John, Jesse, Elisha and other Durden/Darden's. Josiah bought and sold land in Warren, Jones, Baldwin, Wilkes and surrounding counties until about 1820. He received a land grant in Autauga County, Alabama in 1817 and had moved there by 1821. His first wife, My gr gr grandmother, is unknown to me. They had 7 children; Jacob William, Thomas, Benjamin, James, Josiah, Cynthia and another daughter who married James Thompson. Josiah married his second wife, Gilly Baker, in 1814 in Georgia. They had 6 children; Rebecca, Martha Emily, G.W.F. DeLa, Charles Baker, Oliver H. Perry, and Washington LaFayette. Josiah died in Autauga County on July 14, 1825. His monument is in the Oakhill Cemetery in Prattville. If you have any information about Josiah, his ancestors or any family please contact me.
