Believe he came to LaGrange Co., IN 2/28/1838 from Fairfield Co., OH.
Information suggested that he may have been married to Bridget Chaney first.
May have other children from this marriage.
Johns' headstone has been removed from cemetery, probably by vandalism.
He was born in the north of Ireland and was of Scotch-Irish descent. This information taken from History of Marshall County, KS. On coming to the US, John was married to Bridget Chaney, who was a daughter of Sebidea Chaney, who was a very early settler of Ohio. The Chaney's were of Welsh descent. When John's family were grown and married they moved to LaGrange Co, IN and settled there in the year 1838.
All came with the exception of his son James. In 1999 John's stone was replaced by John & Estelle Carney, and re-set.
