ARY JANE THISTLE:
Mary Jane Thistle was the first born child of Solomon Thistle and Virtue Rebecca Noftal. She married James Parsons of Freshwater. Solomon Thistle was signed on as a sealer on the Ship Eliza out of Carbonear. The Captains name was William Parsons, both Mary Jane and her sister Racheal Rebecca Thistle married fisherman of Freshwater. It is possible that Captain William Parsons may have been related to James Parsons.

Albert Thistle and Mary Selina Rose in 1910 census showed Nathaniel age 20 and John age 17, and
Ernest living with them. Also Mary J niece living with them. Note Albert and Selina may of had another child name Albert Ernest Thistle. The Ernest in this census 1910 shows the name Ernest. I can not locate the reason for this . In a Massachusetts census it shows one Albert Ernest Thistle of Framingham
Though he shows no connection to the current family tree it may be that Albert and Selina may of had another Child in the United States. Research is being done to find out.

Albert was a fisherman in his younger years. Albert name Appears in Directory's in Mulley's Cove.
In 1894 McAlpines Directory as a fisherman of That Town. His brother's as well show up in the same
census as fisherman .

The named Albert Thistle is one of the oldest names in our family. It is un broken in the family names
for 4 generations in our family history and may go back to the Channel Islands. From Solomons Family.
It was common back then to name the first born son after the father from the generation before.

Notes for Mary Selina Rose:
Albert Thistle first moved Chelsea Massachusetts in the early part of the 1900's . He moved to Framingham Massachusetts for a short period of time then return to live in Chelsea permanently.
Selina Rose was concerned that by 1974 that Albert was not recorded on head stone which had been procured by the time of of her death. It was bought and paided for but never installed on his grave. He died several years earlier. Memoirs Mary Jane Thistle
Mary Selina Rose and Albert Thistle home was a place where many of The family would stay when the Thistle brother's and others would stay and work in the United States before they all moved permanently
here in the 1900's. The family would work here as painters the return every year to Newfoundland to fish the Northern Ice fields in Labrador. They made many trips to carp and seal the Bartlett and the Thistle boys made over 55 voyages to the Northern Ice fields in Labrador. Sometimes the younger women in the family would go as cooks for the men.
Mary Selina Rose often would take care of the children when they were in the United States. She was very strict with the children she would keep an eye out for them. One story of Mary Jane Thistle when she was a young girl ,This is part of a letter as told by Grammies (Mary Jane Thistle)
She didn't attend school , sick with anemia . Lived in Everett with Albert and Selina her father boarded in Framingham. She worked in a paper box factory for a while made candy box's . when she was 18 she met Pa in Sunday School in Chelsea, met through Francis . Pa's sister Aunt Selina was possessive, didn't want her to go out . Pa had a touch of T.B. went out of work for two years. He was admitted to N.Reading when the Doctor mentioned the west, so he went west. The whole family went and worked in a saw mills in Idaho came home when he was about 25. He wanted to get married and , she didn't yet.
Was working in Atwood's Box Factory he threatened to go back west. Janie said she would marry him.
When Aunt Selina caught them out walking - she didn't go back to the house Got married a week later on May 13, 1918 when she was 23. Albert Welsh was the best man . Alfreda was the maid of Matron of Honer. "Oh promise me sung at wedding" had a 48 hour honeymoon . Went to Portsmouth stayed at Rockingham . Put up box lunches (Lobsters) for trip to York Pa her father died about 1922 (sick for a few years something to do with stomach lived with Albert and Selina...\
