Sugar Creek Deed - Febuary 18, 1848

This indenture, made this 18th day of February in the year 1848 between William Richard of the County of Monroe and Commonwealth of Kentucky of the first part and Preston Belcher of the County and Commonwealth aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth: That for and in consideration of $52 in hand paid, the receipt of is hereby acknowledged, hath this day granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant, Bargain and sell unto the said Preston Belcher his heirs and assigns, all that tract or panel of land, situate and being in the County of Monroe on the waters of Sugar Creek and bounded as follows to wit.
Beginning at a Gum & dogwood thence N 14 W 48 poles to a poplar and dogwood. Thnce S 34 E 83 poles to 2 white oaks, Thence S 11 E 84 poles to 2 poplars, Thence S 81 W 40 poles to 2 Hickories, Thence N 11 W 148 poles to the begining containing 52 acres be the same more or less together with all and singular the appurtances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the land hereby conveyed with the appurtances, unto the said Preston Belcher his heirs, and assigns forever and the said William Richard for himself, his heirs, executors and administrators, the aforesaid tract of land and appurtences unto the said Prestdon Belcher, his heirs, or assigns against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever, doth and will forever warrent and defend by these present in witness whereof the said William Richard together with Susannah his wife who hereby relinquishes her right of dower in and to the lands conveyed in this deed hereunto set their hands and seal this day and date first above written.

Know all men by these presents that Preston Belcher for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars in hand paid the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowldeged by F. R. Hagan have this day bargained and sold aliened and conveyed unto the said F. R. Hagan a certain track or parcel of land consisting of all my undivided interest of my Father John Belcher, decd, lands lying and being in the County of Monroe and State of Kentucky on the waters of Mashacks Creek supposed to be a part of several different surveys. To have and to hold forever and I further bind myself, heirs and assigns to forever warrant and defend the title of the above described lands unto said Hagan his heirs and assigns free from the claim or claims of any and all persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof thereunto I set my hand this 12th day of Sept. 1868.

I, J. C. Conkin, Clerk of Monroe County Court, certify this deed from Preston Belcher and Margaret A. Belcher, his wife to F. R. Hagan was this day acknowledged before me by said grantors to be their act and deed, whereupon I have recorded the same together with this certificate in my office duly stamped. Given under my hand this 12th day of Sept 1868.

January, the 25th, 1889. Know all men by these presents that for and in consideration of the love and respect we have for mortality and the cause of Christ our redeemer we have this day donated and do hereby transfer to the Church of Christ at Freewill in Monroe County, Kentucky a certain lot or portion of land in said county and state for the erection thereon a church house and bounded as follows to wit:
Beginning on a black oak thence S 50 E 8 Poles to a stone thence N 50 E 10 poles to a stone thence North 50 W 8 poles to a stone thence South 50 W 10 poles to the beginning containing one half acre to have and to hold the said church forever and we, Amanda Belcher and Preston Belcher bind ourselves to warrant and defend the title free from all persons whatsoever and it is further understood and agreed that the said church is to always have access to watter (sic) To which we subscribe our names the day and date above mentioned.

Numman, Clerk of the Monroe County Court do certify the foregoing deed from Preston Belcher to the church at Freewill was on the 23 day of Jan 1889 produced to J W Combs a legally qualified and acting deputy Clerk for J. A. Flippin a former Clerk of said County Court and acknowledged before him by the said Preston Belcher & c and said to be their act and deed as appears from an indorsement thereon in these words "acknowledged in full before me by Preston and M. A. Belcher Jan 29" 1889. J. A. Flipin Clerk of M. C. C. J W. Combs. D. C. M. C. C. and the same was filed in my office for record May 4th 1894 where upon I have recorded it and this certificate in my office This 5th day of May 1894.

"William Rihard being in perfect health and mind makes his will and testament.

I will that my land and home place that I now live on be divided between David N Rihard heirs and Margaret Amandrah Belcher and heirs and Preston Belcher. I will that the line begins on a walnut on the line of Preston Belcher and William Richards near Prestons house where he now resides, turning from there to a hickory east near where an old shop was burned down, from thence to a poplar, from thence north a straight line to a maple on the southeast corner of Daniel Isenberge line. I will that Margaret Amandrah Belcher and her heirs have the side where the house and orchard is and being the side that the Scotsville Road runs through. I will that David N Rihard heirs have the division line reset to his home place. I will that none of the heirs have no controll of my land only as I give it to them till after I am decease. I will that my place on Barren River equally divided between David N Rihard heirs and Margaret Amandrah Belchers and heirs left to themselves to divide it or sell it and divide the money. I will that my wife Susanah Rihard has control of all the lands money and property so long as she lives my widow. I will that after she is deceased and put away decently that all the house property be divided or sold and the money divided equally between David N Rihards heirs and Magaret Amandrah Belcher and her heirs, this 7th Nov, 1863."
