My Heritage from Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tenn

About Our Family Research


My THOMAS family came from Camden County, Georgia settling in Alachua County, Florida. These families include the Rowland THOMAS family and his son Roland THOMAS.

My TOWNSEND family came from England settling in Marlboro County, South Carolina. My Townsend line migrated in the 1800's to Gilchrist and Alachua County, Florida. These families include the John Jack, John Hill, and John Light TOWNSEND families.

My WILLIAMS family migrated from Wales settling in Maury County, Tennessee. Descendants settled in Winchester - Franklin County, Tennessee where geneartions of this family lived and died. Today WILLIAMS family continue to live in Franklin County. This family line includes John James WILLIAMS who was a leading lawyer and judge as well as a State Senator from Tennessee.

My RICHARDSON family migrated from Virginia to Lancaster, South Carolina. My direct ancestors moved to Corinth, MS in the 1840's finally settling in Alachua County, Florida in the 1850's. This family includes the William, John, and James Madison Richardsons.

My FRASER family came from Scotland to Georgetown, South Carolina in the 1700's. Many settled in Sumter County, South Carolina. My direct ancestors then migrated to Alachua County, Florida. These families included Thomas, John Baxter, John, and Alexander FRASER.

The MERCHANT family lived in Edgefield and Newberry County, South Carolina. My great great grandparents then migrated to Alachua County, Florida where they lived, raised families and died. This family line includes William, Silas, David H, and George Stuart, and Harry McCreary MERCHANT.

The MCCREARY family came from Southport, North Carolina to Alachua County, Florida in 1868. This line includes William Thomas, and Henry Hamilton MCCREARY. Henry Hamilton was a prominent Florida Journalist and State Senator. He was editor and owner of several early Gainesville, Florida newspapers.

The CARVER family came from England to Chowan, North Carolina in the 1600's. This family lived in Edgecomb and Cumberland County, North Carolina. Some settled in Ware, Clinch, and Coffee County, Georgia. My great grandmother moved to Alachua County, Florida where she lived, raised a family and died.
