He married JEMIMA SMITH Abt 1747 in Rowan, North Carolina, daughter of ANDREW SMITH and ANNE MERSHON. She was born 1732 in Hopewell, New Jersey, and died Abt 1802 in Rowan, North Carolina.

Jemima married the second time Hermon Butner, 28 Feb 1775 -
her will is in Rowan Co., N.C. page 15 dated May 7, l881,
proved Feb 1803.

Her father Andrew Smith's will in Hopewell, N.J. dated
Oct 1774'
