According to her obituary which appeared on page 6 of the Saturday, July 3, 1926, issue of The Daily Examiner published in Bellefontaine, Ohio, Lucy was the last living member of the family of Jonathan Pierce Brookins. She was a member of the Friends church in Zanesfield, Ohio. The cause of death is listed as poor circulation. She died at the home of her son, William Clingerman, who resided one-half mile east of Zanesfield. She and Horatio had four sons and two children who died in infancy. Her funeral services were held on Sunday in the home of William Clingerman with Rev. Mr. Crumrine officiating. The full text of her obituary is given below:
"An aged and revered woman, Mrs. Lucy Brookins Clingerman, who would have reached the age of 87 next October, died Friday night at 6:20 in the home or her son, William Clingerman, living one-half mile east of Zanesfield. Mrs. Clingerman had been ill for the past two weeks. She died from the effects of poor circulation.
Four children remain, William and Frank Clingerman, who reside in the Zanesfield vicinity, and Harry and Charles Clingerman, whose homes are in Reading, Mich. Two children died in infancy. Mrs. Clingerman was the last of the family of Jonathan Pierce Brookins and was a fine noble woman. She was born in New York. She had united with the Friends church in Zanesfield and was a devout Christian woman. The deceased was the widow of Horatio Clingerman, who died nine years ago on July 4.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30, Central time, in the home of William Clingerman. Rev. Mr. Crumrine will be in charge. Burial in the Zanesfield cemetery."
The informant for the information on Lucy's death certificate was Mrs. Will Clingerman of Zanesfield, Ohio, who was her daughter-in-law. Lucy died at her home near Zanesfield.
