Orintha Amrine (b. October 31, 1839, d. November 12, 1872)

Orintha Amrine (daughter of John Henry Amrine and Sarah Reed)^{143, 144, 145} was born October 31, 1839^{146, 147}, and died November 12, 1872 in Liberty Township, Union County, Ohio^{148, 149}. She married Moses Wolford on February 04, 1857 in Parsonage of J. T. Miller, Union County, Ohio^{150, 151, 152}, son of Elijah Wolford and Elizabeth Amrine.

Notes for Orintha Amrine:
According to email received from Robert Bremer on September 17, 2001, Oyrnthia Wolford died on 12 November 1872 in Liberty Township, Union County, Ohio from typhoid fever. Her death is recorded in Union County death records book 1 on page 34. The record indicates that she was a white housekeeper, and her age at death was 33 years and 12 days. Using the date of death and age at the time of death, her calculated birth date is October 31, 1839. However, on page 170 of the Amerine-Amrine Genealogy 1754-1980 by Wesley W. and Velma (Amerine) Winn, her date of birth is given as 1841. The 1860 Federal Census of Paris Township, Union County, Ohio adds further confusion to the date of birth of Orintha. The census shows her living in the residence of Moses Wolford, her husband, and gives her age as 17. To add to the confusion, the 1850 Federal Census of Paris Township, Union County, Ohio, shows Orintha living in the household of her father at age 9. Orintha's parents were married on February 6, 1840. If she were born in 1839, her birth occurred before the parents were married.

The 1850 Federal Census shows John Amrine living in Paris Township, Union County, Ohio as a farmer with land valued at $800. Other members of his household included his wife Sarah, daughters Orintha, Nancy, and Roxana and son James.

Marriage Notes for Orintha Amrine and Moses Wolford:
Two sources of information on the marriage and Orintha and Moses differ by a year. In Amerine-Amrine Genealogy by Wesley W. Winn and Velma (Amerine) Winn (1981,p. 170), the wedding date is given as February 4, 1856. However, in Union County Probate Court Marriage Records 1800-1900 by Dianna Hearl (1997, p.2), the date is given as February 4, 1857. Further, the certified copy of the marriage record in the Probate Court of Union County, Ohio, in possession of the writer gives the date of the wedding as February 4, 1857. The application for the license was made on January 31, 1857.
