G. S. and Delaware County Historical Society, Inc. in 1988 under the authorship of George R. and Marilyn M. Cryder. Part of Delaware County was transferred to Morrow County and Marion County when Morrow County was formed in 1848. This record establishes Jonathan P. Brookins as being in Ohio by this date.
The 1850 Federal Census shows Jonathan P. Brookins living in Radnor Township, Delaware County, Ohio at age 53. Other members of the household were Marilla Brookins, age 49, William H. Brookins, age 21, John P. Brookins, age 15, and Lucy Brookins, age 10. Jonathan, William, and John are all listed as carptenters.
The 1860 Federal Census shows Jonathan P. Brookins living in Middleton Township, Marion County, Ohio at the age of 61. Other members of the household were Marilla age 59, William H., age 30, and Jonathan P., second, age 25. The occupation of all three men was given as carpenter. Jonathan's real estate was valued at $150 and personal property at $50 at the time of the census. Lucy married Horatio Clingerman on December 3, 1859 and so was no longer residing with her parents. From the 1860 Federal Census of Ohio, Horatio and Lucy were living in Jackson Township in Union County of Ohio. Horatio is listed as 26 years old and Lucy as 20 years old. S. E. and Miriam Williams are listed one family away in the census records. Miriam was Lucy's sister, and her husband was a physician.
