I thought I would feature what life sketches or stories I have.I will try to change them every so often. High Time Oct. 16, 1975 My Life Story by Lois Williams Thompson We keep hearing about the importance of writing our life story so our children will know about us.Maybe it’s our grandchildren, since my children know as much about me as they can stand right now. This business of getting my life story written has been on my mind since I started doing Genealogy back in 1965, so you’d think I’d have a ton to write about but I don’t. My life began at a, very early age, at least it was back during the iron age because ironing was one of the first household duties I learned to help with.I remember ironing shirts for my Father and four brothers. Mother had an ironing board she brought our of the hall closet and set it up on the kitchen table. This was preceded by building a roaring hot fire in the kitchen stove to heat the sad irons; to me no household item was named more correctly.I would go to the hot stove to get a hot iron, I liked to lift the little button-knob and latch it into the very hot sad iron. Then I remember the wood age also. We it had a large heaterola in our front room, it had to heat 3 bedrooms so took a lot of wood, plus kitchen range. So chopping and bringing in wood was a constant chore from the time I learned to walk till I was old enough to walk. We had seven children in our happy house hold, a better and sweeter family never lived. We had family home evening all the time. I can never remember of a time my parent's ever had to spank me or scold me. I started to school in Myton, Utah at age 7. Rode the bus from Arcadia, it was fun because I was with my big Bro's and Sisters. When I was 8 we moved to Vernal, and I spent the rest of my school days there, Now I doubt that even my grandchildren will want to know who carried my books home for me so I'll skip all that. I was 17 before any love interests began, and than the reason I dated was to get to go to the dances, my whole life was dancing, but always got up Sunday and went to Church. Then away back in 1952 I met Russ and we started our family.I wanted a whole house full of children like we had at home because we had so much fun, but I wasn’t as blessed as my mother. Guy came to us in 1953. Shelley in 1960. JRussell in 1962. I’ll just skip all of our Church and school accomplishments and say we’ve always been active in all aspects since our marriage. My father passed away in 1960 and my mother had her 80th birthday Oct. 16, 1975. I’m now older than I care to mention but I’m very happy and content to be here and have what I have to enjoy for the rest of my life. Lets see now, I wonder if I’ve left anything out, if I keep it short, maybe someday one of my grandchildren will say “I wish she had written more,” and that seems about as good a place to stop as any. Well Fred, Carling, Shelley, Elna, Marilynn, Mable, Russ, Gene, Dave, Guy, Diane, and JRussell there’s another obligation taken care of.May God bless all of you now and especially after I’ve left your midst.
