------------

So while Richard P's death certificate says mother's name was "Mary", here she is listed as Catharine, which fits with my theory of Mary Catharine, since Richard P. named one of his children Mary Katharine.

Maggie Horney's "A Saga of a Century", a typewritten manuscript written about 1975 (see file) Page 16 refers to Maggie's "oldest child was born when we lived in the place not too far from where Mr. Thompson had moved and where he kept store. Mrs. Thompson would stay in it when he ate his meals or worked outside. I am not sure if he worked as a waterman after that or not.".

From "A Saga of a Century" by Maggie Collier Horney c. 1975: Page 56.

"The only Thompsons I knew in my early years were Uncle Dick [Mom Hattie's father Richard P. Thompson] as "most every child called him" just because he was getting old, I guess. He was Mrs. Kate Hyland's father, and in later years I learned she had sisters on Kent Island as well as two brothers, Bill and Mr. Ed, whom I said were good friends of ours.

One of his granddaughters Charlotte Severa worked in the Chester Post Office a long time. She came to see me recently and brought me some books to read. Besides her I seldom even hear the name any more. Bill Thompson and his wife Viola are both dead quite awhile now.
