The THOMPSON name so far I have traced back to London for about 1870 to my Great Grandfather Ernest Richard THOMPSON, apparently an accomplished musician ! He often appeared on stage around the London area.

His son was Albert Richard THOMPSON born London October 1898, he served most of his working life with H. M. Customs & Excise Department.

My father was Noel Richard THOMPSON born 1924 in Battersea, London, he served in the Royal Air Force during World War 2 and later became a journalist.

The HAWKE family are mainly from the Cornworthy area near Totnes, Devon. The earliest name that comes up is Ann HOKE born about 1775, she had at least 2 children and their surname was spelt HAWKE. The HAWKEs lived in South Hams area, eventually moving to Dartmouth, Totnes, Plymouth and even for periods to South America, and Ireland.
The main trade was agriculture and there was more than one generation of Master Butchers.

The VAUSSOUE name is that of my Fathers French Mother, from recent enquiries in November 1998 and with assistance from Canada, I have now traced unknown living relatives in and around the Paris area. I am awaiting a GEDCOM file from France showing the VAUSSOUE name and tree traced back to the 1690 period.
