William Peter Arnett's Confederate Company became Company F, 59th Regiment, Alabama Infantry. He fought in numerous battles in the Cumberland Gap, Tennessee Area. Late 1863, after long weary , shortages of food and clothing, many troops voiced strong opposition to some Confederate Leaders of Military Authority. For awhile it appeared both William Peter Arnett and his brother, Theophilus Hinton Arnett, were among those soldiers in serious trouble for their opinions. Later, William Peter Arnett was allowed to continue in the Confederate Army, for he re-enlisted at Knoxville, Tennessee as Private, Company F, 59th Alabama Regiment. He was wounded twice in battles ranging from Tennessee on into Georgia during the advancement of the Union Army General Sherman's march through Georgia.
