Josiah Steele (son of Eliphalet Steele and Catherine Marshfield) was born 25 February 1723/24 in W. Hartford, Conn., and died 11 March 1801 in Vermont. He married Elizabeth Colton on 02 December 1753 in Hartford, Conn., daughter of Benjamin Colton and Elizabeth Pitkin.
