She was indicted at the 1848 Devon Lent Assize on a charge that she, Mary Ann Clist, of the parish of Halberton, single woman, being servant to Samuel Chave, on the 6th March 1848, did steal,take and carry away one pair of stockings of the value of one shilling of the goods and chattels of the said Samuel Chave”. Verdict: Not guilty. Assumed to have occurred before her husband's 2nd marriage, as George re-married.
She may have died in childbirth of Henry.
