Rosemary grew up in Feltwell, Norfolk. She is the daughter of Bob Walden of Feltwell and Muriel Jones, of Brecon Wales. Her three brothers are Glyn, Robert and Jeremy Walden. Her sisters are Angela Pedlow and Sandra Phipps.
The late Derek grew up in Edinburgh Scotland. He is the son of Ian Thomson Thorburn and Irene Stephenson. His sister is Helen Lang of Marske by Sea and his late brother, Michael Thorburn.
Derek and Rosemary have two daughters, Joanna Cockburn and Alison Watters. Joanna has a son James Calder and Alison has a son Hamish Watters and a daughter Ruby Watters.
Rosemary is researching Walden, Hinsby, Golden, Clarke,Rudland, Eastgate and Barnard in Norfolk. Games, Jones and Hughes in Brecon and Herefordshire.
In Scotland, Thorburn, Hewat, Grosart, Porteous, Thomson,and Govan in Leith, Peebles and Selkirk.

Glyn was the Mayor of Diss, Norfolk from 1999-2000. He is the son of Bob Walden of Feltwell and Muriel Jones of Brecon, Wales
- William Whiteman Walden (103 KB)
William Whiteman Walden was the son of Robert Searles Walden, born 27 December 1821 and died 12 June 1903. He emigrated to America with his second wife Ellen Morgan with whom he had a further 7 children. Their many descendants live in various States in the US.

- Captain John Thorburn (48 KB)
John Thorburn, son of John Thorburn and Agnes Hewat of Leith, Scotland, was Master of the SS Stettin, Weimar and Gothland all of which sailed between Leith and Hamburg. Born in 1867, he died in 1936 whilst still a serving merchant navy officer.

- 2nd Engineer Herbert Rowe Stephenson (15 KB)
Herbert Stephenson was Derek's maternal grandfather. He was killed when serving as the 2nd Engineer on the SS Treverbyn (Hain of St Ives),which was sunk by the German navy, enroute from Russia to Manchester with a cargo of iron ore.
