Notes for JAMES THORPE:
James and Nancy, along with 5 of their children, of whom Thomas is the oldest son, appear together in the same household on Old Road in Dukinfield, County Cheshire, according to the Empire Census of 1841. Ten years later, when Thomas was 28 years old, he appeared to have taken over as head of household and his parents, James and Nancy, along with their younger children, James Jnr, Alfred and George are gone. However, sister Caroline did stay behind to live in Thomas's household but by this time she is listed as married with three children.
