Thren Family of Reading, PAUpdated November 21, 2007 |
My research involves the ancestors of my parents Vincent F. THREN and Evelyn G. WOODWORTH of Reading, Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania branch of THREN family history in America begins in 1848 with the arrival of Franz Valentine Thren and Genevieve Hornung from Erlenbach and Ballenberg Baden, Germany. Direct connection has been made to the THREN family in Germany through the 1600's, beginning with Andreas Johan Thren. The related branch of the WOODWORTH family in America begins with William WOODWARD who emigrated from England in the late 1700s. The immigration details have not yet been established. The WOODWORTH family direct lineage has been confirmed back through the mid 1800's to John Woodworth and Emma Seitzinger. The THREN Family research includes the following family names: Ruppert, Angstadt, Gehringer, Henry, Brogly and Long. The WOODWORTH family includes Seitzinger, Sheridan, Wixon, Bittle, Smith, Hartranft and Rhoads. I am also interested in the history surrounding family events including the ships of the immigration travel, the Civil War drafts in Berks County, the operation of the Moselem Iron Ore Mines, the early Catholic Church in Reading and Berks County especially the Mission Circuit from Goshenhopen and St. Henry's Chapel in Moselem and the building of Antietam Dam. |
