| I am hoping to discover information about my husband's family. His father's name was Samuel Elgin Tibbetts and his mother's name was Irene Lyons. According to the information that I have now, Irene Lyons' father, John Lyons, was a military man originally from England, married to Johanna Bresnahan from Ireland. John Lyons was associated with a General Shields who settled here in Minnesota after the Civil War. John Lyons, however, moved on to North Dakota where, according to Irene, he settled on a large ranch near Devil's Lake. Irene died in February of 1973. Also welcome would be information about my own family, the Chamberlains. The earliest one I know about was Tallman Chamberlain who came to New York, Cayuga County, from Connecticut and bought a farm. in 1809, near Cato from Peter Van Alstine whose daughter, Evaline, subsequently married Tallman's son, John Payne Chamberlain (1804-1858. My father, Arza Augustus Chamberlain, was the youngest child of that union and he moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1877 where he was in the real estate business. I have quite a bit of information about my father's family, especially on his mother's side, and the dates go back to the early 1800s, but I know very little about the Tibbetts family and would not only welcome information, but would be happy to share my own facts. |
