I am researching the Tidwell family that originated in the Peak's District of England and emigrated to America in it's earliest days. The family eventually separated and my branch went west through Illinois to Oklahoma. My grandfather, Moody R. Tidwell, Sr, made a run into the then Indian Territory and established a home in what became Miami, Ottawa County, Oklahoma. He did not run very far because Miami is about as far north and east as you can go and still be in Oklahome. In 1899 he married my Grandmother, Kate Peebles.

My father, Moody R. Tidwell, Jr, grew up in Miami. He married my Mother, Dorothy Thompson in 1923 and practiced law there for twenty years. I was born in Kansas City, MO in 1939. In 1940 Moody Jr was called to active duty in the Army and we moved to the East Coast. I am Moody III and I grew up in Virginia, Japan and Ohio. I married Serena Cox in 1967 and our two sons, Greg (1968) and Jerry (1970) live in Sacramento, California.

I was a Federal Judge in Washington, DC for the last twenty years of my career. After retirement Rena and I moved to Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.

Anyone having news of the Tidwell's from Tideswell, England please contact me. Perhaps we can share stories and research.
