Murril's brother's name was Colby Q. Campbell. They also had sisters Celia and Sarah. Other possible siblings are a brother who died before 1850 (this assumption is based on the 1850 census in which the Campbell family is living next door to a Martha Campbell (widow) and her son James M. Campbell age 11. Next door to her is the James B. Drake family) and two sisters - Margaret who married E. J. Richardson in 1847 in Lawrence Co. AR and Elizabeth. The first is based on a newspaper article of the time and the last is based on her name being mentioned in an 1868 letter from Colby to his cousin Richard "Cousin Dick" Campbell of Jackson Co. AL. In the letter Colby mentions Murril and Elizabeth but does not identify the relationship - knowing Murril is his brother and that both of Merril's wives where named Mary it is an assumption that Elizabeth might be a sister. Merril and Colby's mother was Anne?? born c 1796 in KY. In the 1850 Randolph Co. census she is a widow. Anne and her husband were probably married in KY about 1815; by 1830 the family is in Jackson Co. AL. I believe the family moved together with the James B. Drake family. Also in Jackson Co. AL at this time is a younger brother of ?? Campbell, James Martin Campbell, born 1811 in KY. James Martin Campbell married Jane Toney and appears in the 1850 AL census with children Methrusa, Hulda, William T., Richard J., and Frances Elizabeth. Richard is my line. In the early 1840's the family of Merril and Colby has left Jackson Co. AR along with the Drake family and the Pringle family.

Based on the ages of this Mr. Campbell's children as they appear in the 1850, Randolph Co. AR census, I think this might be the family enumerated in the 1840, Jackson Co. AL, census on page 54. This listing, if correct - NO PROOF, it would mean Anne's husband was John born about 1780. It accounts for all of the above suspected children plus two more females unaccounted for.
