Jamie's Ancestral Digs

Updated September 5, 2000

Jamie's Ancestral Digs is a genealogical resource for anyone searching for Hicks, Holder, Partin/Parton, Johnson, and Sentell families in the Appalachian areas of North Carolina and Tennessee (especially Cocke County). It is also a resource for anyone searching for Abbott, Barkley, Campbell, Pittman, and Thor families in Oklahoma, Missouri, Alabama, Mississippi, and Western Tennessee.

If you think you might be related to these families please feel free to contact me................

I would like to personally thank the following people...... without them I would have large gaps in my family tree. It's great to know I had more family than I thought!

Doris Noland Parton ( dnparton@usit.net ) Without your help on my Partin line I never would have found Serena's parents...... And I never would have known that I was Dolly Parton's 4th cousin :-) You have been a wonderful resource and have helped me break down some of the walls I had on my Anderson Hicks line.

Ken Jenkins and Pat Jenkins Hartman ( patsy4107@yahoo.com ) Both of you have been wonderful to share your vast information on my Pittman line. I have loved getting to know Anne Campbell through your letters. Pat I am completely indebted to you for the wonderful photos you sent me of Anne and her family along with the documentation you sent me. I look forward to working more with both of you as we pin down more on the Thor & Campbell lines.

I must also mention Noble G. Abbott who compiled the genealogy of Elisha and Martha Abbott. I would have nothing on them without the vast work he put together in a family book many years ago. I inherited a copy of this book from my Grandmother Edna Barkley Pittman. The entire Abbott line I have posted on this site is Noble G. Abbott's work. Thank you!

I would also like to thank Sam P. Sentelle for the most amazing resources on the Sentell/Sentelle line! The information on the Sentell's is his, I simply fleshed out the information on the descendants of Lillie Sentell as best I have been able too. I had a few of the names of Lillie's ancestors but now I feel I have a real start to understanding her people.

I would also like to thank the users on the GenForum lists who have been both inspiring and so very helpful. I hope that I can offer information from time to time that will be equally helpful.
