I am researching the KELSEY family from Oklahoma, the TIJERINA family from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, the WAGONER & SHIELDS families from the Oklahoma/Arkansas area, the McLAURY family from Kortwright, Deleware County, New York.
McLAURY: I have a relative who has done extensive research on this part of our family that goes back to the late 16th century (Thomas SWIFT d. 1592) Stories have been told that we are decended from author Jonathon Swift, but I have not yet seen any proof. Other names in this part of the family I am looking into are CALDWELL and VANDENBURGH.
KELSEY: This line of research stops at my grandfather L.L. Kelsey, Jr. I believe this line goes back to a village called Kelsey in England, but I have not made this connection yet.
WAGONER/SHIELDS: Again, the only research I have is that which I have acquired through a cousin. Most of lineage reaches back towards the Civil War and I have several pictures of individuals during this time. Most appear to have lived in Oklahoma (Indian Territory), Arkansas, Georgia, and Oregon.
TIJERINA: All of the information on this side of the family has been discovered through other family members. Because much of the information is recorded somewhere in Mexico, I have had a hard time locating it. Other names with this family include VELASCO, RODRIGUEZ, ANZALDUA, DE LA GARZA. One of my favorite stories is of the Irish heritage of this Mexican lineage. During the Mexican-American war, many Irish soldiers fought with the Mexicans against the U.S. One of these soldiers is a Tijerina ancestor.
Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
